Bring Some Of It With You

“You will

find poetry

unless you bring

some of it with you.”

― Joseph Joubert

shared thoughts

reader to listener

audience to the writer

freezing rain breaks boughs

nature’s attempt to prune limbs

springs healthy new growth

once there were a happy people
living and loving very peaceful
every house had a heaven pointing steeple
children played and laughed gleeful

could there ever again be such a place
acceptance did not depend on your face
everyone respected each others space
there was only one human race

can politicians dictate such a thing
do miracles arrive on an angel’s wing
faithful marriages signed with a ring
harmonies that all are able to sing

will geneticist eventually eliminate the ego
no more testing with a placebo
no man made boundaries, you are free to go
peace and love the only credo

let us all raise a grateful prayer
work together to clear the air
eliminate the threat of warfare
solve the need for welfare

know that time will go on without us
only evil thoughts should be treasonous
most hopes and dreams are superfluous
just let me be another bozo . . . on the bus

ME and the Boss.
