Poem:

.

he doctored his coffee with sweetener and cream
he wondered that his life was no more than a dream
sunshine on the porch where he sat in his rocking chair
there he settled into old age with out a care

let the grand kids worry about world affairs
who cares that mankind in is in serious need of repairs
when will people know that humans are but one race
that existence depends upon learning to share the space

my generation ignored the humor of Will Rogers
we laughed at the bad  films of those old codgers
George Carlin was so right that it almost wasn’t funny
this generation thinks only about the money

ego and greed, not politics, running todays government
even the Corona virus made many a comfortable retirement
government patents filed ten years before the pandemic
made the entire swamp a part of the evil systemic

back to the day dream, watching the butterfly drifting by
wondering why every day there are more jet streams in the sky
mulling the thoughts,  should I, could I, do I care
why worry, enjoy what we can, let us begin with a prayer
