Time

did Frost care about his legacy
as an American icon in his own time
was Poe ever concerned about his identity
as an editor he offended very many
the poet laments man’s frailty
founded on historic and trending times
lemmings dressed as soldiers bravely
lying on hearts and minds weighty
most never notice that life goes on
consumed with ego and pressing demands
not the sharpest in the box of crayon
like a tortoise into their shell withdrawn
there are two sides to every coin
to be politically correct, bi-polar
the mind has it’s own life to purloin
dramatic pretenses trying to be soigne
is it a discussion or an argument
will there be a winner or a loser
males driven by the domestic termagant
or is she just the trophies ornament
the diplomatic never gives in to either side
inspiration for the next installment
is there a soul who has never lied
it is not our wants that life will provide
forget the legacy, let us just play pretend
lose the identity and be the chameleon
who cares, life is nothing but a tiny godsend
enjoy this chance, be a loving dividend.

“If you are a dreamer come in
If you are a dreamer a wisher a liar
A hoper a pray-er a magic-bean-buyer
If you’re a pretender com sit by my fire
For we have some flax golden
tales to spin
Come in!
Come in!”

replace it with something better
does every life need a theme song
are we marked with a scarlet letter

the devil dines on the negative
set your table with the bright optimistic
the attitude, good or bad, is never inherited
allow the mind and soul to grow synergistic
