leaves begin to fall

ice on the windows, spidery crystals
a fingernail scratches her initials
the winter light colored the clouds gray
it was too cold to go out and play
she waited for father to come home from work
he worked down at the wharfs as a shipping clerk
his arrival would warm her heart
it was the time when her day would really start
as she sat at the window memories began to awaken
many years had passed since those images were taken
Dad had died and now Mom chose to join him
the house now vacant was somber and grim
life moves on, her children for her now sadden
all wait, knowing that the predestined will happen

do you fit into a typical typecast
does your life fit your personality

can you claim a dual modality
how well do you handle strife
can’t answer any of the questions above
who really cares
it’s always your life to do with as you love
