The Dream Of Life

.

“Poetry is a

sort of truancy,

a dream within

the dream of life,

a wild flower planted

among our wheat.”

.

~ Michael Oakeshott

Poem:

.

in poetry, the words do not clang
rhythm and rhyme, melodic cadence
never expecting a real loud bang
words chosen to give language credence

the poet fights to make every word fit
knowing the poem has a mind of its own
push and shove becomes a battle of wit
words to grace the inevitable tombstone

the poet seeks words with intense feelings
the poem fights back with stubborn concern
things with no meaning and emotions concealing
finally, the resolve is what we have to learn

the poet writes to express himself, an autograph
the poem, however, always has the very last laugh

Bad Poets

.

We talk

so abstractly

about poetry

because all of us

are usually

bad poets.”

Poem:   Highly Overrated  (My attempt at writing a bad poem)

.

a stream of conscience
writing what appears
in the minds eye
not seeking the rhyme or why
just giving the feelings
wings that can or may be attached
to the time and place of their origins

coming up for air
catching another breath
before diving again into
the unconscious realm of
smokey clouds, that on passing
allow glimpses of sunlight and clarity
to peak through

drifting along on the pleasant dreams,
fantasies that makes this world bearable,
trying to ignore the necessary formalities,
meditating in silence as the
world passes me by,
alas, reality is very very highly overrated . . .

Moral: Don’t take yourself too seriously.
