A Coat of Arms

.

“Every poem is a coat of arms.

It must be deciphered.

How much blood, how many tears

in exchange for these axes,

these muzzles, these unicorns,

these torches, these towers,

these martlets, these seedlings of stars

and these fields of blue!”

stars
and stripes
colors and symbols
past, present and future

Haiku:

.

humidity climbs
summer sun climbs ever high
living seek cool shade

Poem:

.

the dawn awakens
new light shines bright
celebrated occasions
a day to highlight

all attitudes differ
to each their own
everyone loves a winner
time doesn’t itself postpone

stories have a reason
beginning, middle and end
the best are born during the silly season
the whimsy to transcend

the poet tries to hide the plot
the conclusion often missing
some lines just an afterthought
the language very forgiving

poetry, love and life
happiness an inside job
true emotions run rife
a new trinket for your fob

no story here
take what you need
like music to your ear
the imagination is freed

inspired ? seek a different space
always remember, you are allowed to be

The Crazy Thing

.

“The crazy thing

about poetry

is how

its simplicity

makes it complicated.”

― Richelle E. Goodrich

Elfje:

faith

you give away

more you will receive

paradox

.

Haiku:

.

brown fields gently sleep

spring rains awakens their souls

colors shout new life

.

Poem:

.

winner, winner
chicken dinner
sometimes a win is a loss
a rolling stone gathers no moss

who’s keeping score anyways
are you always seeking praise
if you mind, does it matter
if it matters, should you mind

Geisel thrived on nonsense
who lives in your subconscious
can you say you’re in your right mind
or do you listen to the mind chatter

remember, God knows what you are thinking
is the thinking stinking from too much drinking
blessed to know the things I can change
it is the attitude that  we can rearrange

the moral, the lesson, don’t think too much
life is best lived with a soft touch
