nobody-but-yourself

.
.

“Whenever you think

or you believe

or you know,

you’re a lot of

other people:

but the moment you feel,

you’re nobody-but-yourself.”              ~ E. E. Cummings

.

Elfje:            (Cinquain)    classic: each word only one syllable

.

feel

to think

what you deem

guess what it is

sense

.

Senryu:      5-7-5 ( Haiku with people and their emotions/feelings as a topic)

.

forever in love

many decades together

God meant it to be

.

Poem:

.

my poetry, my way
in spite of what the experts say
after all it is my story
not written for praise or glory

sometimes true, sometime not
never done with any forethought
words picked at random from my brain
if I don’t let them out, I’ll go insane

allowing the poem to find it’s way
in spite of what the experts say
keep it short and simple to please my fans
me and my friends with short attention spans

always dreaming about writing the epic
am I lazy or to the reader empathetic
or possibly the satisfaction of just getting it done
feelings of true happiness while having fun

there, just finished with another one . . .

The Hardest Battle

.

“To be nobody but yourself

in a world which is doing

its best day and night

to make you like everybody else

means to fight the hardest battle

which any human being can fight

and never stop fighting.”

.

~  E. E. Cummings

.

Elfje:         (Cinquain)

.

unique

just you

like nobody else

one of a kind

individual

.

Haiku:

.

clear azure blue skies

aurora borealis

this cold winter’s night

.

Poem:

.

so average that it hurts
been there, have the t-shirts
still seeking a unique niche
with class, no bawdy kitsch

the snobs feign indifference
the hick straight out of Deliverance
the middle class can’t afford to be rich
there is no bottom to the poor man’s ditch

blue is a color that I will not bleed
enough pocket money to buy some chicken feed
too lackadaisical or just too lazy to succeed
mother always called me her bad weed

I guess I’ll just have to be me
second cousin to the monkey in the tree
choosing to either agree or disagree
living a life happy, joyous and free
