Set the Darkness Echoing

.

“I rhyme

To see myself,

to set the

darkness echoing.”

.

~ Seamus Heaney

Elfje: (Cinquain)

.

green

cows chewing

farmer forever mowing

eventually it becomes milk

grass

.

Haiku:

.

smell freshly mown grass

see the storm clouds gathering

hear the summer buzz

.

Poem:

.

the boys of summer play their game
aspirations of reaching the hall of fame
the girls they have a league of their own
amazing how fast the pitches are thrown

fanatics root for the home team side
win or lose they show their pride
peanuts and crackerjacks at exorbitant prices
tasteless pizza served by the slices

fresh air and sunshine a good excuse
the scorecard as a remembrance to use
win or lose it was good family face time
remember the heroes when in their prime

whose the best ? ? ?
harmless discussions to become embroiled
definitely better than “a good walk spoiled*”

.

*Thanks to Mark Twain for his definition of golf.
