he sat in front of his easel , motionless
his mind fighting the label, precociousness
all he wanted to do was to have some fun
he could not wait until the lesson was done
he sat at the back of the meeting, melancholic
his mind fighting the label, alcoholic
all he wanted to do was to be somewhat normal
the guilt and shame, what he did was amoral
from childhood to grown up, what happened ? ? ?
his soul was completely abandoned
emotionally he never became an adult
self will run riot was the final result
the choice was his to take the action
the program they said was one of attraction
from the disease there was a pathway to recovery
the steps were concerned with self discovery
for many have stood at the turning point
the fortunate a Higher Power doth anoint
the best do it one day at a time
for too many it is a personal crime
we pray that the many will do the work
the promises of sobriety are a Godly perk
can they be honest, just for today
there is no easier, softer way
