glad to be here

planning tomorrow
trying not to make God laugh
learning the lesson
lucky is being prepared
to meet opportunity

Poem:
.
dreaming of things that will never be
people, places and riches that I will never see
positions of power that I could never achieve
feats of glory that no one would ever believe
always content to just be little old me
enjoying a life that is simple, carefree
almost on the verge of being complacent
doing my best to try everyone’s patience
if the questions wrong there is no answer
like why is hate such a ruinous cancer
the right question is who do you love
the answer should be everyone and God above
deliberately avoiding any philosophy
friends are those who share in honesty
enjoying the Creators grand design
sunrise, sunset, every one a beautiful shrine
both young and old go forth to seek peace
may your love of mankind never cease

“One should always be drunk.
That’s all that matters…
But with what?
With wine, with poetry,
or with virtue,
as you chose.
But get drunk.”

pregnant pause
take your time
maybe yes, maybe no
procrastination

admitted the crime
ought to be a civil law
just laughed at the judge
people take themselves serious
can’t put a price on feelings

Poem:
.
the opposite of bad is good
the place where most heroes stood
a life lived with conscientious integrity
never a question about the morality
a head held high with dignity
a smile, a kind word, always exuding goodness
every decision and action guided by virtuousness
promises made, promises kept, trustworthiness
to a Higher Power given his righteousness
every days effort completed with propriety
simple, sincere and transparent honesty
every soul treated with decency
accolades and cudos won with merit
traits that all of our sons should inherit
