Curious Prosodic Fauna

.

“Every poet has

his dream reader:

mine keeps a look out

for curious prosodic fauna

like bacchics and

choriambs.”

.

~ W.H. Auden

drunk

happy vino

dripping with honey

seeking the deviant pleasure

Bacchanalia

.

Haiku:

.

the vine slowly twines

natures cornucopia

fruits red, white and blue

.

Poem:

.

soothing gurgle of the fountains water
butterflies bobbing by
every soul nods an imprimatur
the background a clear blue sky

the gardner paints a living pallet
flowers arranged by size and color
protected from vermine by a small vallate
no defense against the creepy crawler

sunset visits from hummingbirds
migrating robins stop for a bite
a contented smile needs no words
all heads turn to follow the light

lucky the soul who enjoys God’s gift
natures flora and fauna displayed
happy are those with a gratitude list
knowing that nothing at all is man-made

Go On Trying

.

“Every poem I write

falls short

in some important way.

But I go on trying

to write

the one that won’t. ”

.

― Dorianne Laux

.

.

Elfje:

.

flowers
attract butterflies
bees that sting
bugs wanting free lunch
hummingbirds that do not sing
magical

.

Haiku:

.

essence of being
natures miracle at work
air that supports life

.

Poem:

.

waking to a  beautiful morn
rejuvenated during the restful night
sunshine bright and warm
the sky resplendent at first light

another day to do God’s will
steward of nature, helper to others
the sun reflected in the flowering daffodil
dew drops sprinkled by the fairy godmother

love begins with a kindness
God, Nature, others and self
creating families that are priceless
all things protected by the garden elf

is there a rhyme , a reason for the season
what really transpired in the garden of Eden
