“I do believe
in poetry.
I believe that
there are creatures
endowed with the power
to put things together
and bring them back
to life”
.
~ Hélène Cixous

Elfje: (Cinquain)
.
words
are things
when put together
they may mean something
communicate
.
Haiku:
.
rain rain go away
come again another day
does the rain listen
.
Poem:
.
who would have thunk
never worried about consequences
just drank until drunk
no common or any other senses
instant gratification was the only goal
selfish, self-centered, me, me, me
a sick body and mind with no soul
no clue of what it meant to be free
the story begins with what happened
there are no accidental coincidences
miracles beyond what could be imagined
just another of God’s many incidences
a fellowship of sots led the way
steps to rise from the depths of misery
only a Higher Powers will to obey
a simple path exposed by inquiry
the story continues with what it’s like now
a life that’s lived beyond one’s wildest dreams
using daily reminders of it works HOW
easily worth striving for . . . by all means

“Poetry is
the art of
uniting pleasure
with truth.”
.
― Samuel Johnson

Elfje:
.
noise
vulgar speech
display of ignorance
oaths among the stupid
swearing
.
Haiku:
.
God lives forever
time measured by the light year
man’s life but a blink
.
Poem:
.
can I tell a lie
grandiose ego I
makes me want to cry
the morals which I defy
Mother taught me right
the church made me fear sin
the commandments I thought were trite
it was always more important to win
t’was instant gratification that I sought
never dreamt of the consequence
tried every sin that could be bought
the highs were far above common sense
struck sober by a God incident
was almost restored to sane thinking
the addiction was false imprisonment
controlled by habits that were stinking
to thine own self be true
a better way of living
a Higher Power to see me through
enjoying a life I thought was missing
I cannot tell a lie
I no longer want to be that bad guy
