Expand Your Senses

.

“If my poetry aims

to achieve anything,

it’s to deliver people

from the limited ways

in which they see and feel.”

.

― Jim Morrison

Elfje:

opinion

tunnel vision

one way street

no rhyme no reason

Haiku:

Poem:

.

he clings tenaciously to his comfort zone
he adamantly denies that he is a clone

he statistically fits into the status quo
his wife has replaced him with a rubber dildo

the kids don’t introduce him to their friends
he spends his days making unnecessary amends

the local bowling league failed to re-invite him
his insurance man told him to not go near the gym

the ultimate fanatic he paints his face in the home team colors
people in the  office will only comment, “he knows his numbers”

time is making him old and he is totally oblivious
like too many lives the ending is sadly piteous

if only he could have been persuaded to read a poem

The Possibilities

“Listen,

real poetry

doesn’t say anything;

it just ticks off

the possibilities.

Opens all doors.

You can walk through

anyone that suits you.”

.

― Jim Morrison

.

Elfje:

.

Imagine

the possibilities

whatever the direction

forward, backward, up, down

moving

.

Senryu:

.

I once had a choice

endless possibilities

procrastinated

.

Poem:   Just Make Do

.

God does not close the door of opportunities
without giving a new path to explore
sometimes two or more possibilities
maybe even a window or a hole in the floor

crying over spilled milk, things lost
only blurs the vision of one’s past
be vigilant of the paths yet crossed
chances usually disappear very fast

having a clear and open mind is paramount
smile and present a determined attitude
believe there are no obstacles you cannot surmount
be a winner, let your spirit be renewed

living life, moment to moment, in today
keeping just the right amount on your plate
seeking the positive to keep fear at bay
be willing, be ready, know how to celebrate

when the door of blessings beckons
take the one that best suits you
positively never ever settle for seconds
and whatever the outcome, just make do.
