The Subject

.

“Poetry should be

great and unobtrusive,

a thing which enters

into one’s soul,

and does not startle it

or amaze it with itself,

but with its subject.”

.

~ John Keats

.

Elfje:

.

startled

senses jostled

shocked into disbelief

language of the ignorant

rap

.

Haiku:

.

words the bane of man

feelings of love and respect

nature needs no words

.

POEM:

.

deep and introspective
the poem delivers a message
written with an attitude
why not look for the blessing

think spring, think rebirth,
bring forth the brilliant colors
tickle the funny bone of mirth
feel the tenderness of mothers

a happy poem, not so deep
a song of words to entertain
pleasant memories the soul to keep
whatever it takes to makeĀ us sane.
