Fill It Up

.

“It’s just endless
what you can learn from
a single work of art.
You can fill up the crevices
of your life,
the cracks of your life,
the places where
the mortar comes out
and falls away-
you can fill it up with
the love of art.’

~  Vincent Price

.
scare
cause fear
shock the nerves
make the heart jump
spook                                    (What Vincent Price was know for.)

spring colors blossom
refreshed after winters sleep
birds and bees arrive

Poem:

.

seeing red, totally vivid
ignorant actions that make one  livid
anger is another form of fear
ulterior motives made unclear

emotions that must be explained
to keep the soul from being drained
the lessons to teach patience and tolerance
situations that require our total sufferance

wisdom achieved by learning to listen
uncovering motives that were hidden
Spiritual progress became our ultimate goal
rediscovering the value of our soul

no longer red, what we see is clear
serenity and peace devoid of fear

Poetry Cleanses

.

When power leads man

toward arrogance,

poetry reminds him of his limitations.

When power narrows the area

of man’s concern,

poetry reminds him of the richness

and diversity of existence.

When power corrupts,

poetry cleanses.

~ John F. Kennedy

Poem:

.

nag, nag, nag, nag
do this, do that, do something
she gave new meaning to the coefficient of drag
her constant scow was scary disgusting

lip service she gave to gratitude
she prided herself on being really tough
through backward glasses the world she viewed
enough was never ever enough

she gave, only as much as it would please her
bad attitudes were someone else’s fault
manners when it suited, otherwise, just defer
forgiveness was given with a grain of salt

behind her back, others gave pity
her friends she could control
to her a cold shoulder was propinquity
her escape was down the rabbit hole

she outlived them one and all
because she nagged each of them to death
she anointed herself the queen of her ball
and smiled as she gave a command with her last breath
