but only tired
Of everything that
ever I desired.”

can you hear it, the song of the universe
music that stirs every atom of the heart
chords and melodies your being to immerse
every emotion intent on feeling its part
can you see it, heaven aglow with brilliant stars
their dancing choreographed with every note
glittering light reflected by brilliant feldspar’s
words softly sung through a velvet throat
can you feel it, a touch of heavens euphony
sounds that touch the ends of each nerve
every tone becomes a celebrated jubilee
sung by pure voices that angels serve
can you smell it, fragrances carried by varied sounds
from idyllic pastures to the cannons roar
music knows its place, from forefront to backgrounds
every nuance designed to make the spirits soar
can you taste it, songs that stir the imagination
from the ice cream truck to the commercial jingle
a symphony written as a part of the creation
when you are in tune it will make your spine tingle
let the music of the universe invade your being
allow the children’s laughter to be your first sign
permit your body, mind and soul to be set freeing
enable yourself and the universe to align

“My love is like a red, red rose
That’s newly sprung in June:
My love is like the melody
That’s sweetly played in tune.”

headache from the rap music
a generation to be hard of hearing
definitely not thinking lucid
only to the most primal endearing
trying to exercise some tolerance
watching the noise flaunt their money
trying to ignore their arrogance
so too serious that it is almost funny
tattoos crying I have no self esteem
what’s with the pants down to the knees
negativity, hate and killing a major theme
a vocabulary that doesn’t include thank you or please
whatever happened to decent moral values
with less gratitude they expect more
it seems that the shock value is what really sells
words and actions almost impossible to ignore
respect is demanded, never earned
banging, clanging rap is even in the commercials
sitting at the red light all heads are turned
twenty four seven they live in the rehearsals
thank God electronics have saved the oldies
what is gold and platinum shall never tarnish
styles of music that won’t ever need apologies
listening to sweet melodies that most can cherish
tunes you can hum, words that convey love
maybe even a beat that you can dance to
poetic lyrics sung by angels from above
patience, the evil shall meet their waterloo
