Similes And Metaphors

.

.

“Where to start?

Everything cracks and shakes,

The air trembles with similes,

No one world’s better than another;

the earth moans with metaphors.”

twenty eight days to change a habit
not true if you happen to be a rabbit
for some changes can be very difficult
unless they are brainwashed by a religious cult

an addictive habit is double the trouble
an altered ego cannot get humble
will power is usually the weakest power
the addiction seeks the soul to devour

alcoholics suggest ninety meetings in ninety days
for some it was two years to break through the haze
forget the will power, rely on a Higher Power
see a new life bloom like a flower

promises, promises received when not drinking
learning to recognize the stinking thinking
a life lived and loved one day at a time
reality discovered within the sublime

get out of that rut, think outside of the box
follow the man who walks the walk
be that person God wants you to be
learn to live happy, joyous and free

How The World Works

.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if poetry –

poetry in the broadest sense,

in the sense of a world filled with

metaphor, rhyme, and recurring

patterns, shapes, and designs –

is how the world works.

The world isn’t logical;

it’s a song.”

Poem:

.

poetry is a song
rhyming, lyrical, meant to be sung
meant to educate, to entertain
to flow easily off of the tongue
some aimed at the masses strong
others too obscure to mean anything
best are those with which you can hum along

.

poetry is a song
striking its chords on heart and nerve
for the writer it can be anything they want
for the reader a brand new learning curve
ideas that dance, words that prance
somber and dark or fluffy cloud light
best are those whose theme is romance

,

poetry is a song
stories that live as long as the language does
heroes and villains, the abused and the innocent
whatever it was and always how it is
some do their work even though rhymeless
God said they all needed to be written
the best, the best are those that are timeless
