“Most people
won’t realize that
writing is a craft.
You have to take
your apprenticeship in it
like anything else.”

daylight starts to wane
cool mornings herald winter
migrations begin

Poem: no rhyme today, just a prose rambling
.
a little bird sitting upon a line
don’t do it, don’t do it, don’t
he did it
poor Miguel
he opened his thermos
the soup was cold
he opened his bucket
the bread had mold
he was too close to the mud puddle
when the bus came along
he was one number off
when the lotto was drawn
it was just one of those days
when nothing went right
along came Sofia
for Miguel a perfect sight
isn’t it wonderful how love
makes everything alright

Poem:
.
songbirds welcome the morning light
the sun chases the chilled morning dew
butterflies move with an erratic flight
the strong coffee tastes like witches brew
breakfast a porridge of curds and whey
God’s design begins another day
the pencil recalls many happy mornings
drawing images from a time long past
recalling troubles when we ignored mothers warnings
cherishing happy moments that cannot be surpassed
enjoying today, a future memory
having an attitude to bring about reverie
time slows the mind and body
moments recollected, sorted by feelings
winter mornings warmed by a hot toddy
summer splashes punctuated by squealings
the fortunate remember a successful relationship
treasuring what was an everlasting courtship
even though the imagination was just pretending
the truth could never write a better ending
