Make Up A Rhyme

.

“I can’t even

make up a rhyme

about an umbrella,

let alone death

and life

and eternal peace.”

.

― Knut Hamsun, Mysteries

.

Elfje:                  (Cinquain)

.

peace

conflict avoidance

patience, tolerance, forgiveness

synchronized with the Uni-verse

serenity

.

Haiku:

.

morning to quiet

heat is already stifling

dog days have arrived

.

Poem:

.

death, life and eternal peace
searching for the proverbial golden fleece
life and death are gauranteed
fleece and peace need a superhuman deed

the poem makes up the rhyme
the poet just selects the time
the subject is in the language
knowing a lot of words is an advantage

today’s inspiration is umbrella
not Mary Poppins but Cinderella
searching for the charming prince
rarer than the flowering quince

I’m glad that poems need only rhyme not reason
the thought police may call it treason
Orwell’s incitement was done in prose
will it ever happen, nobody knows

many a poem ramble on forever
short and sweet is enjoyably more clever

In One’s Own Life

.

“Poetry is nothing

if it exists

only in books.

One has to find it

in one’s own life.”

.

― Marty Rubin

.

.

Elfje:

.

ready
get set
on your mark
no place to go
ratrace

.

Haiku:

.

serene and peaceful
natures majesty displayed
tranquil summers eve

.

Poem:

.

In and Out

.

in
ones
own life
the ebb and flow
the coming and going
growing to physical maturity
hopefully becoming wise along the way
trying to resolve life’s mysteries
quickly the time has passed
celebrating or mourning
reflecting on events
it’s God’s time
over and
out
