stream of conscious
stoned hippies ruined poetry

how fast is the mind
speed of light

they read the same paragraph
there were two different opinions
they saw the same photograph
neither had the same visions
who is to judge right or wrong
as long as nobody gets hurt
providing the price is just a song
given that the first course is dessert
how important is it anyhow
this too shall pass
does it make one raise the eyebrow
does it make you first in class
be tolerant, allow others to be right
be patient, prayers are answered in God’s time
be forgiving, be willing to give up the fight
be generous, brother, can you spare a dime
be the person God wants you to be
a soul that is happy, joyous and free.

“You see,
I am a poet,
and not quite right
in the head,
darling.
It’s only that.”

Poem:

if your in need of a good laugh
check out your yearbook photograph
whatever were we thinking then
like we knew every how and when
my oh my how the time goes past
for too many it is short and fast
the fortunate followed a long straight path
for some there was little left in the aftermath
the smart learn from their own mistakes
relying on luck to make their breaks
the wise learn from the mistakes of others
if only we would have listened to our mothers
children no longer listen to learn
parents too busy to show their concern
too many good lessons left on the bookshelf
they need to learn that history does repeat itself
Roman, Ottoman and Habsburg, they all collapsed
the age old argument on who should be taxed
history used to be written by the winners
today, twitter is writing it before it happens
it’s the future generations success that they are spending
I pray o’ Lord, let me see a happy ending
