“Poets aren’t
very useful.
Because they
aren’t consumeful
or very produceful.”
.
~ Ogden Nash
.
Elfje: (Cinquain) classic: each word only one syllable
.
verse
a rhyme
ode to love
a song of praise
hymn
.
Tanka: 5-7-5, 7-7
.
a heart filled with hate
a childhood that was awful
God gave him a chance
she taught him to love himself
they shared a loving spirit
.
Poem:
.
just another God given day
another chance to have fun and play
to be thankful for the blessings received
almost too good to be believed
rain or shine it is all about the attitude
happy are those who have gratitude
be kind and love unconditionally
every tribe finds it traditionally
every event is a God given blessing
a salad covered with your favorite dressing
time flies when you are having fun
always best shared with a loved one
have your mind stay in today and enjoy
let friends and laughter be your favorite toy

“Every word
was once
a poem.”
.
― Ralph Waldo Emerson
.
.
Elfje
.
Every
Thought was
Once a poem
Before there were words
Written
.
Haiku:
.
sensual overload
nature explodes in the spring
words fail to describe
.
Poem:
.
love, life, history, mystery
poetic themes that include adultery
written to pique the imagination
another vague form of communication
happy to expand the vocabulary
singing like the proverbial canary
to some the words create the music
others hear only the elevator musak
few are those who hear the Universe in silence
most serious concerns for their mental imbalance
today we will let the word choose the poem
sound or meaning, exuberant or solemn
always the poem that never ends
lame excuses and false amends
form, meter, rhyme the words intend
doesn’t every poet just pretend.
