welcome, welcome to my party
I hope that you will not be tardy
place cards eliminate your seating decisions
there are noisemakers and remembrance ribbons
for this party there is no rhyme or reason
just friends meeting to celebrate the season
there is no dress code, no gifts to bring
you’ve been invited even if you cannot sing
we’ll gather in the meadow idyllic
laughter assured as we attempt to speak poetic
God forbid that it should rain
keeping an eye on the barn’s weather vane
the pastry chef, her name is Echo
her voice sounds like the TV Gecko
she baked a huge white cake supreme
stuffed with a ton of chocolate cream
relax, delight, let your worries at home
please turn off that annoying cell phone
bring an attitude of gratitude to employ
you have been granted this life, so enjoy
