“But at my back I always hear Time’s wingèd chariot hurrying near; And yonder all before us lie Deserts of vast eternity.”

Poem:

the horseshoe above the door was facing down my luck had fallen to the ground up the ladder with hammer in hand was this the portal to Alice’s wonderland
it was a tap, tap, tap on the tack step on a crack you break your mother’s back righted the horseshoe without hitting my thumb could I walk, talk and chew bubble gum
superstitions growing out of old wives tales nevermind is to ignore the minor details the poem is seeking something metaphorical the only help that I can give is strictly rhetorical
to sit in rapture, to muse and ponder how much time does a poet squander back to the luck which is now on the ground the old sage said that if I am prepared it can again be found
so to be prepared one needs to read more one cannot expect life to come through the back door love we know comes in through the window it is death who uses the back door for his innuendo
be ready Freddy, keep the front door unlocked keep your notebook of good ideas well stocked may your horseshoe always be turned upward and let today’s dessert be your favorite custard

. “Luck Is What Happens When Preparation Meets Opportunity”. This quote is attributed to the Roman philosopher Seneca.
sunlight on the wings of a butterfly
summer sounds of bees and birds
nature’s magnificence one cannot deny
all mighty creation to glorify
comparisons at a loss for words
human vision pales inadequate
images that the artist attempt to capture
each and every day a cause to celebrate
God laughs as we try to prognosticate
time to stop thinking, enjoy the rapture
universe reduced to mathematical perfection
wavelengths that color the rainbow
mirror, mirror, whose reflection
emotions the only imperfection
an occasional mind like Leonardo or Thoreau
whose world is this anyway
can there ever be an honest legislature
is there a replacement for religion
does one need faith to file a petition
will man ever harmonize with nature
will man eventually destroy his domain
what is the true meaning of armageddon
were all humans born with the mark of Cain
can we be content with the mundane
shall we let peace cry out to heaven
