mouth watering
aromatic herbs, spices
balanced sweet and sour
savory

crickets loud chirping
summers happy lullaby
cicadas buzzing

is there a time for everything
must you believe in anything
everything happens in God’s time
anything will do in a pinch
there is a rainbow somewhere
the truth often comes out of nowhere
somewhere the air is free
nowhere doesn’t require a key
unconditional love is for everyone
could it happen to anyone
everyone is a unique creature
anyone can be a bad teacher
every city glows in springtime
who picks the best for prime time
springtime is for all the lovers
prime time is best spent under the covers
where you live becomes someplace
where you die could be anyplace
someplace is in the here and now
anyplace is usually the why and how
today is to ignore all of the questions
know that you are the answer today

cows chewing
farmer forever mowing
eventually it becomes milk
grass

smell freshly mown grass
see the storm clouds gathering
hear the summer buzz

the boys of summer play their game
aspirations of reaching the hall of fame
the girls they have a league of their own
amazing how fast the pitches are thrown
fanatics root for the home team side
win or lose they show their pride
peanuts and crackerjacks at exorbitant prices
tasteless pizza served by the slices
fresh air and sunshine a good excuse
the scorecard as a remembrance to use
win or lose it was good family face time
remember the heroes when in their prime
whose the best ? ? ?
harmless discussions to become embroiled
definitely better than “a good walk spoiled*”
