“All days are nights
to see till I see thee,
And nights bright days
when dreams do show
thee me.”

why is love such a common poetic theme ? ? ?
because love is such a hard thing to describe
philosophers go to great lengths to prescribe
but poets can explain the word in a dream
analogies, metaphors swiftly drip from the poet’s pen
feelings physical, emotional and spiritual
mixed and matched with words lyrical
learned on the laps of the mothers of men
love is in the mind of the beholder
sensations essential to a time and place
objects or persons which we cannot efface
sentiments that grow stronger as they become older
thank you Shakespeare for the sonnet
for the purist it is truly mnemonic
