“Have courage for the
great sorrows of life and
patience for the small ones;
and when you have laboriously
accomplished your daily task,
go to sleep in peace.
God is awake.”

~ Victor Hugo

Poem:

whatever did I do
I thought I was being nice to you
maybe you didn’t hear me right
I’m supposed to be your white knight
was it my tone of voice or the words I used
for whatever reason I am confused
please tell me what am I supposed to do
I will do anything that I must go through
don’t know what I did so I can’t say that I’m sorry
I’m chasing big game emotions like I was on a safari
to play your guessing game I am requesting a hint
maybe it’s something that rhymes with peppermint
could be that I forgot to take out the trash
we needed milk, I forgot to leave you the cash
did I strand the kids at the soccer field
I quit, too many landmines on this battlefield
she confessed there was no reason for her blowup
for her the best part was to kiss and make up

Poem:
.
they listened to the old man’s tale
knowing that there were embellishments
the pause, the dramatic inhale
entertainment for the residents
they used to get up and go to work for a living
careers they called them, it paid the bills
one day a year they would celebrate thanksgiving
now it’s talk regarding the changing of the wills
most are enjoying their life’s longevity
the happiest enjoy doting on the next generation
few ponder the length of eternity
fewer yet the theory of creation
day to day they enjoy this existence
following the path of least resistance.
