A Secret Gate

.

“Still round the corner there may wait

A new road or a secret gate

And though I oft have passed them by

A day will come at last when I

Shall take the hidden paths that run

West of the Moon, East of the Sun.”

Poem:

.

the lake stood quiet under the midday sun
it appeared the world was taking a nap
only the ants were seen on the run
a distant sound, the woodpeckers tat, tat, tat

the school stood quiet, summer vacation
the heavy air set a pace that was very slow
the old man on the bench was in meditation
cows were lying in the nearby meadow

peace and quiet, no worry, no strife
pictures of Tom Sawyer in a dream
oh lucky enough to live such an idyllic life
every meal ending with peaches and cream

time to let the imagination run wild
a reason not to forget the inner child
