Those Who Don’t Believe

.

.

“And above all,

watch with glittering eyes

the whole world around you

because the greatest secrets

are always hidden in

the most unlikely places.

Those who don’t believe in magic

will never find it.”

“Lord, make me an instrument of your peace:”
Thus St. Francis of Assisi begins his prayer
one soul at a time asking love to increase
replacing negatives one need not bear

from seven negatives, each a positive given
a personal dedication to prayer votives
become willing to accept God’s admonition
sympathise, love, abandon selfish motives

“divine Master” give me the strength
to do what is right at any price
the courage to go to any length
to make this world a place that is nice

know the wonderful paradoxes,
that you must give to receive
satisfaction that the soul transfixes
love more for happiness to achieve

have faith, there is nothing to despair
enjoy a beautiful life given for us to share

Both

When a father

gives to his son,

both laugh;

when a son

gives to his father,

both cry.”

breathing is a gift
gratitude should know no bounds
the small things do count

kindness the path to happy
happy people grow blessings

Poem:

.

just another drunkalog
never read the instructions for his Lincoln Log
all the newbie knows is how to drink
no original thoughts, only some lip sync

another soul with a backward brain
only knows how to raise Cain
he who shouts loudest wins the argument
they’re wanna be members of parliament

it is a Higher Power that they try to ignore
following a suggestion is a boring chore
how soon they forget what they really wanted
not knowing that the disease goes undaunted

the fellowship prays his fog will lift
the miracles know sobriety is a gift
keep coming back is all they can say
changing everything is the price to pay

your choice to join the unique ten percent
or stumble along with the same torment
there are no rules, dues or fees
even the bleeding deacons want to please

the fellowship meets to shout gratitude
better to be seen than to being viewed
