the old man’s mind still enjoys it’s trips to fantasy land
remembering the occasional one night stand
sometimes recalling the details, the time and place
a few were nothing but a blur, others had a face

the morning after always a calliope of feelings
praying that the night included no weddings
very little guilt from the drive for self satisfaction
no remorse for the victim, didn’t believe in compassion

a name that was a lie needs no amends
what’s a little hot and heavy among friends
he wished for the goose what was good for the gander
the rules were set, he was just another philander

when he remembers, today he looks
touching is definitely not in the books
still rude, never a sympathetic heart surgeon
always trying to become a better curmudgeon

tired, spent, he’s given up trying
he believes there is a benefit to dying
faith, there is a purpose God put us upon this earth
believe, good memories are all that it’s worth
